A Movie Location I Never Thought I'd Visit!

Have you ever seen a gorgeous movie and immediately thought— Where is that and are they accepting visitors?

Recently, I felt exactly that about the Woody Allen movie, Magic in the Moonlight with Colin Firth and Emma Stone, set in the French Riviera. I’ve been working through all of Woody Allen’s movies because even though so many of them have left me disappointed, I do love the locations his films are set and I love how strange some of his characters are. The location for this movie was BLOOMING, sunny, quiet, and green. It felt other-worldly and colorful. It felt sophisicated and ridiculous. And I love a good ridiculous vacation.

I'll Have What She's Having | Re-Watching Sherlock

We decided to re-watch Sherlock this January.

It all started in December when we discussed what we thought our all-time favorite shows EVER are. Like, if we were forced to put together a top five- what would they be? Brett thought Sherlock might be one his favorite shows of all time, and I can’t blame him.

It’s a masterpiece.

The best part about watching it this time, was forgetting most of the episodes. I knew big plot points, but for the most part, I’d forgotten everything. Forgetting a TV show rarely happens to me, so this was sort of nice?

Brett’s question to me after the first season was, “Why do we like Sherlock?” And after watching every season, I’ll admit— I do like him. From the very beginning. Even when he’s being an ass hole and doesn’t realize it. I like his abruptness, blunt delivery, and his desire to bring justice.

I'll Have What She's Having | Spooktober

In case you’re new around here, every month I share a random list of things I’m loving (either pop culture or window shopping). The title “I’ll Have What She’s Having” comes from the cult classic When Harry Met Sally— it’s what the lady at the opposite table of Meg Ryan says after Meg Ryan has a fake— well, if you know— you know.

I love these round ups and I would love to hear what shows your’e watching, what movies you’re loving, what songs you can’t stop playing, or what items you’re putting in your shopping cart!

I'll Have What She's Having | Birthday Edition!

I’ve been on this earth for 31 years and I’ve only just figured out how to communicate what I want for Christmas + Birthdays. Throughout the year I keep a sticky note on my desktop and anytime I find something I want to buy, but can’t afford or want to save for later, I add the link to that item to my sticky note. I’ve heard there’s apps for this and Amazon even has “lists” I’ve participated in. But, as I try to shop small and try to not just shop on Amazon, I’ve found a simple “sticky on the desktop” works great!

So when my birthday rolled around this year, I rounded up the linked items and emailed them to my Brett, my husband! And I’m sharing my list with you too, just in case you need to shop around a bit or be inspired for your birthday list this year!

I'll Have What She's Having | April

Today I’m sharing my pop culture and window shopping favorites from the glorious interwebs. Brett and I walked down the Upper West Side of Central Park a few weeks ago, so I thought I’d share some of our pictures from our adventure as well. What shows are you watching? What music are you listening to? What are you trying SO hard not to buy on the internet?

I'll Have What She's Having | PopCulture meets Window Shopping | January

Entering into 2020 has been a sluggish and hazy experience for me. We started off the year sick. I felt a little lost in a haze and I didn’t get around considering my goals and plans until this week. Sparkvoice (SparkVoice is an online community and mentoring program for women and girls. They believe every woman has a voice and a path that matter, no matter how young or old she is) has a really meaningful post on reflecting and choosing who you want to be this year (which is very hard, but necessary for us Enneagram 9’s).

What I’m wearing lately: It’s sweatah weathah! You can also find me in these Comfy, cozy, and sturdy boots from Target. I’ve never worn olive shoes before, but they go with almost all of my outfits— I think that’s the benefit of mainly owning a neutral wardrobe. Right style experts?

  • What I’m dancing to while I wash the dishes: Both of Selena Gomez’ new songs. I didn’t know I could love the Mm-mm-mm’s so much.

Finding Community and Belonging at Lubbock Con | Portraits

A first timer’s (and outsiders) Comic Con experience. I was fascinated by cosplayers’ devotion to their homemade costumes and emotional connections to their cosplay character. If I had to pick three words to describe my interactions with the Lubbockon community, I’d choose: Community, empowerment, and acceptance. There was a real sense of belonging and admiration in this Comic Con world. And I really loved that.

It’s Coachella this week, so I thought I’d share this Mushroom print by my fave Etsy artist, Shannon Kirsten. Also, on carousel display are my OLLLDD SCHOOL Coachella Instagram snapshots from 2012. I didn’t even know what Coachella was when my brother invited me to go. I had the time of my life.

I'll Have What She's Having | September

1.I’ve never seen a wedding video like this. I searched and watch a TON of wedding videos the other day for wedding photography inspiration, and when I found this, my jaw dropped. The Cinematography and music are some of the best I’ve ever seen.

2. Speaking of love. It’s a wild thing. The other day I was talking with friends about my love/hate relationship with country music and I was trying to tell them how grateful I was for Kacey Musgraves and Ruston Kelly. Their albums this year have both really challenged the genre of Country Music and even though I’ve heard Kacey’s album a million times, I’ll never be tired of Love is a Wild Thing.

1. Mindy Kaling’s Dartmouth Speech. She talks about how much of her life has been lived out of order... and how okay that is. I'm a sucker for a good commencement speech--- do you have a fave you've listened to?

2. Season Twos....

This is Us. Could I argue this is one of the most captivating and real shows on television right now? Brett has even started sitting through a handful of episodes with me. I've caught those tears in his eyes a few times. And me? I've blubbered through every episode.
